We were so excited to meet again as we hugged each other and exchanged pleasantries. So when I read of the accident, from which initial reports he sustained injuries, I sent the following text message on the 8th of February 2014: “Good evening Prof. I learnt of the tragic death of your colleagues. May their souls rest in peace. I also read that you were seriously injured in the accident. I pray for your quick recovery”. That was my last text to Jenks…perhaps never read and will certainly forever remain un-replied to…for Jenks has gone home to rest. Adieu Jenks.
