The reviews for the chanteuse’s debut are mostly positive, reflecting on the success of the first few tracks she had released late-2013.
Known for a close friendship with rapper Drake and the hip hop artiste known as Childish Gambino, Aiko has also made a name for herself for her smoky, sultry lyrics and luxuriously mid-tempo urban sounds.
Reviews for her debut include one which described it as “A fully-paid bliss trip of nothing but soulful and love enriched tunes.” Another read: “It’s a combination of diverse sounds and genres, incorporating Hip Hop, R&B, Alternative and some slight pitch of electronic. The feel of the whole album seems to give you a new age of music.”
The release boasts of some really well-recorded singles including ‘W.A.Y.S’, ‘It’s Cool’, ‘Brave’, ‘Lying King’ and ‘Pretty Bird’.
