The President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Alumni Association of Nigeria (JAAN), Ahmed Agberankhe, has said some of its highly skilled members in environment, water and sanitation are working on model projects to recycle waste.

Agberankhe, who made the disclosure at the celebration of JICA Day in Abuja over the weekend, also said the association, through its agricultural committee, would establish a farm, which he explained, would be managed by its members using knowledge acquired from their training in Japan.

He said the association had within the fiscal year organised modern training techniques on cultivation and post-harvest processing of cowpea for farmers in Gwagwalada.

The representative of JICA in Nigeria, Okumura Makiko, noted that JICA had assisted and supported developing countries as the executing agency of Japan’s ODA in accordance with the vision of leading the world with trust.

Makiko said JICA supported the resolution of issues by using the most suitable assistance method: technical assistance, grant aid and ODA loans, as well as implementation of various projects.

She, therefore, appreciated the JAAN’s initiative at organiing trainings, workshops and seminars and sharing their experiences gained in Japan.
