Jigawa Dismissed police Sgt leads robbery attack on Deputy Gov’s Guest House

A dismissed sergeant of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Jigawa state police command, Sani Danjuma, has led a suspected syndicate of armed robbers to attack a guest house in Kano metropolis belonging to the deputy governor of jigawa state Barr Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, disarming the policemen on guard duty of an AK47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

Our reporter gathered that the dismissed officer had served a guard duty in the said guest house while in active service of the force and thus conspired with three others to attack the house carting away with a BMW posh car valued N11m and some undisclosed amount of cash.  

Parading the suspects yesterday at the Kano state police command, its spokesman, SP Magaji Musa Majia said the guest house was attacked on Sunday, 18th March, at 9:30pm.

He said “an information via a good Samaritan was intercepted at Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) kano, that armed robbers with dangerous weapons attacked the guest house of the deputy governor of jigawa state located along Okashatu close off Hadejia road where they attacked the policemen on guard duty and confiscated one AK47 rifle with the rifle No: 26594 loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

He said upon the receipt of the information, the state Police Commissioner, Rabi’u Yusuf immediately ordered the Anti-Robbery Squad to swing into action, which led to the eventual arrest of the suspects, all of whom are residents of sultan road, Nasarawa GRA in Kano metropolis.

 Majia said the suspects confessed to the crime, and led detectives to their hideout where the police loaded rifle and the BMW posh car and other dangerous weapons were recovered.

He added that investigation is in progress to trail the remaining operational arms of the syndicate who are currently at large, stressing that, they would be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
