Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has signed into law the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill of N901.8 billion, paving the way for the implementation of planned projects and programmes across the state.

At the signing ceremony in Dutse, the governor said the state government’s budget stood at N901.84 billion, while the combined allocation for the 27 local councils was N288.85 billion.

Namadi described the 2026 budget as a “citizens’ budget”, explaining that it emerged from extensive consultations and engagement across the state to reflect the priorities and aspirations of the people.

Describing the budget as ambitious but realistic, Namadi assured stakeholders and residents that it would be fully implemented.

Also, the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, on Wednesday, signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to redouble the transformation recorded across every sector.

A breakdown of the budget showed that out of the N1.62 trillion budget, the sum of N1,296,092,465,000, representing 80 per cent, was allocated to capital expenditure, while N321,305,000,000, representing 20 per cent, went to recurrent expenditure.

The budget funding comprised N870 billion IGR, N387 billion from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and N329 billion from capital receipts.
