Disturbed by the increasing cases of malnutrition, the members of Jigawa State House of Assembly, has contributed the sum of N5 million as part of their collective effort in fighting the scourge in the state.
The legislators have assured the people of the state for the release of the fund at the appropriate time to the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, malnutrition intervention fund.
This was contained in a communiqué made available to Journalists after a 2-day workshop organized by United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF) in Kano aimed at encouraging the legislators to support the executive in freeing the state from menace of malnutrition.
The communique also observed that strong engagement between the state legislature and State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, would go a long way in fast tracking nutrition budget appropriation.
It added that Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency had expressed deep concerned over poor nutritional indices in the state as evident in the National nutrition survey.
