Jigawa needs quality representation
The quality of representation at the legislature should not be compromised, its time to review the traditional way of selecting and anointing candidates for such sensitive and important political office; the bar most be raised, we should have a standard yardstick for screening candidates so that the very best will represent us at the end of the day. Jigawa State can boast of intellectuals and professionals all over the country, but unfortunately most of them do not take any interest in the politics of their state. Politics should be viewed as everybody’s business because this is our future. It’s time to inject some level of professionalism, it’s time to do the right thing, politics shouldn’t be like a spare tire you pull out only when you are in trouble, but rather a steering that directs us through the right path throughout our journey to greatness.
We need professionals in the business of politics rather than people making politics a profession. Representation should be a selfless service to your state and country at large so that after your service you fall back on your profession. Unlike the present situation whereby people who lack the intellect, ideas and ideology venture into politics. Enough of bench warming, it is time for quality representation in the true sense of the word.
