Jigawa targets about 2m children for polio immunization

Jigawa state government is tergetting 1, 650,000 children for vaccination in the ongoing polio immunization exercise that has commenced four days ago in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim, who stated this yesterday while speaking with Kano Chronicle in Dutse, said he was optimistic that the exercise would meet the target children, looking at the level of cooperation from the side of the parents.

He said government had made proper arrangement for adequate supply of vaccines to all the 27 local government areas of the state adding that adequate personnel were mobilized for a hitch free exercise.

The executive secretary stated that owing to the cooperation of the parents, dedication of the health workers and ceaseless supply of candy sweet that attracted children contributed in the massive
turn-out during the exercise.

“Considering the level of the cooperation of the parents, we can say the era of apathy toward polio immunization is gone. We must commend all stakeholders for ensuring a hitch free immunization,” he said.
