The emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi made the call yesterday while declaring open a one-day sensitization workshop organised for the traditional leaders by the state Directorate of Gunduma Health System.

Alhaji Sanusi charged the traditional leaders to contribute their quota in the ongoing fight against the child killer diseases noting that “since government has incorporated us in the programme, we must sit up to prove to the world that we are equal to the task.”

He however, charged them to continue sensitising their people on the need to cooperate and support government by bringing their children for the routine immunization exercise

He pointed out that, Jigawa state has championed the course in the fight against polio, adding that, government has been supporting the Directorate of Gunduma Health System in the crusade against Polio hence the need to put heads together to fight the child killer disease.

Earlier, the Director General, Directorate of Gunduma Health System, Hajiya Hassana Husaini Adamu charged the participants to pay more attention to the seminar, saying much would be learned from it.

Hajiya Hassana, who was represented by the Director Primary Healthcare of the Directorate, Alhaji Aminu Dan-Malam said 88 district heads were selected from across the state to partake in the workshop saying, the workshop was aimed at sensitising them on the health issues with a view to channelling the message to their respective communities.

She pointed out that traditional leaders were incorporated into the immunization exercise following a directive given by His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, who directed emirs to take charge of the forums on polio in their respective domains.
