This was disclosed to Daily Trust recently by the Commissioner for Empowerment, Alhaji Muhammad Abdu, in Dutse while talking to our correspondents.
He said: “The empowerment programme of the Jigawa State government under Governor Sule Lamido has moved from youth and women empowerment to empowering the migrant pastoralists in order to reduce conflict between the pastoralists and farmers, reduce their tendency to migrate every season, idleness and criminal tendencies.
“We came up with 10 strategic skill acquisition centres for them which will train them on modern hatchery of guinea fowl, poultry, peacock and ostrich eggs. Already 1000 of them have benefited from the training.
“The state government has spent about N83 million in building and equipping the centres,” he said. adding that the animal fattening training will teach the pastoralists to produce more meat while the feeds production will enable them produce modern feeds using local ingredients.
