Jigawa vaccinates over 3m animals in 6yrs

Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Rabi’u Isa Taura, made this known recently, during the official launching of the 2013/2014 annual livestock vaccination exercise at Miga local government.
The animals were vaccinated against CBPP, PPR and rabies, which increases death rate and reduces animal productivity in terms of milk, meat, eggs proliferation and labour inputs in the state.
He said the target of this year’s programme is “to vaccinate more animals, including dogs and local poultry against rabies and Newcastle disease (Bazai) respectively.”
The state government said it has established six modern sheds for preserving hides and skin (wet salting shed) at Maigatari, Sara, Shuwarin, Gujungu, Kazaure, and Malam Madori.
