Some landlords in Jikwoyi have given the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) seven days’ ultimatum to stop over billing them.

 The landlords are threatening civil and legal action if the company failed to meet their demand.

 The Vice President of the Landlords Association, Jikwoyi Phase One, in a statement jointly signed by the chairperson, Electricity Committee of the association, Mrs Patricia Sale, said AEDC had failed to give meters to residents but had continued to bill consumers for what they did not consume, adding that there was no parameter to assess electricity consumption.

 The leaders of the association alleged that due to the over billing, small and medium scale businesses were finding it difficult to survive.

“We view the AEDC’s action as serious economic sabotage on our community and on Nigerians in general,” they said. 

 They appealed to the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, to prevail on the management of AEDC to stop over billing electricity customers.

  “Through the action of the AEDC, the community now pays for electricity not consumed. It has become very difficult for the community to pay,” the statement read.
