Following the crisis that engulfed the Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa (JMA), a group has said that the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the group has no power based on the association’s constitution to extend the tenure of the president, which is a four-year single tenure.

Recall that the association submitted a petition to the Independent Corporate Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged misappropriation of funds, among other issues, by the Hajiya Rabi Saulawa-led executives, and also filed a case at the Federal High Court, Kaduna.

However, addressing a press conference yesterday in Kaduna, a former Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Kaduna State, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, who spoke on behalf of other members of the group, Concerned Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa (JMA) Group, said Hajiya Rabi should stop parading herself as the President of JMA as “her tenureship is illegal.”

She noted that the organisation, once a beacon of unity, had slipped into dormancy over the years, necessitating the establishment of a resuscitation committee.
