The Plateau State chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has called on Muslims to uphold Islamic culture and traditions by exemplifying the true essence of Islam.

Speaking at the inauguration of the newly-elected JNI state executive members in Jos, the Plateau State capital, the Emir of Wase and State Chairman of JNI, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Haruna, said religious organisations in recent years have faced numerous challenges, making it imperative for the new leadership and Muslims at large to project the core values and noble traditions of Islam.

“No section of society is immune from the turbulence of our time, especially religious organisations. All eyes are on us, and we must live up to expectations and confirm our true identity as Muslims who cherish peace, live in peace, and preach peace at all times, because that is the essence of our religion,” he said.

He noted that the Holy Qur’an and authentic hadiths clearly outline the Muslim way of life, stressing the need for adherents to measure up to the expectations enshrined in Islamic teachings.

“In Plateau State, where I serve as the Chairman of JNI and Vice President General in Nigeria, we are not without challenges,” he added.

The emir acknowledged the existence of challenges facing the organisation but expressed optimism that they could be addressed.

“Challenges are part of life and leadership. They are meant to be surmounted and to make us stronger. Our challenges are unique and shaped by our environment, where Allah has destined us to live among diverse ethnic groups and religious beliefs. This makes peaceful coexistence complex, but we have been able to strike a balance and are living relatively peacefully,” he said.
