JonahCapital Nigeria Limited, one of the original allottees of the River Park Estate in Abuja, has denied authorizing the filing of a suit against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a statement signed by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kojo Ansah Mensah, the company said it did not instruct any lawyer, directly or indirectly, to initiate legal proceedings against the minister.
The clarification follows reports of a suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, with number FHC/ABJ/CS/1869/2025, purportedly instituted on behalf of JonahCapital and Common Consultant Ltd by lawyer Oluwabunmi Adebiyi.
The suit sought a restraining order against the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), the FCT Minister, and the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (Department of Development Control).
JonahCapital stated that it had directed its counsel, S.I. Ameh, SAN, to appear in court and take steps to withdraw the matter.
According to the company: “It has come to our attention that Mr. Oluwabunmi Sola Adebiyi of BlueGate Solicitors does not have the authority of the Board of JonahCapital Nigeria Limited to act for or represent the company in any capacity whatsoever. JonahCapital Nigeria Limited has neither authorized nor instructed him to commence any legal action on our behalf.”
The company further disclosed that it has petitioned the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) regarding Adebiyi’s professional conduct and that law enforcement agencies would also be notified.
JonahCapital stressed that its directors are Samuel Esson Jonah, Kojo Mensah Ansah, and Victor Quainoo, whose particulars are available in public records.
“Accordingly, we make it abundantly clear that JonahCapital Nigeria Limited has not instituted any action at the Federal High Court against the Honourable Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, or the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA),” the statement added.
When contacted, Mr. Adebiyi told our correspondent that he would not comment on a matter pending before the court.
