The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,FCT Senator Bala Muhammed has exonorated President Goodluck Jonathan from the spate of bombings rocking parts of the country saying Mr President has no hand in it.
Bala stated this in Bauchi Sunday when he led a Federal Government delegation to the Central Market, Bauchi which was rocked by explosion last Monday.
He said contrary to insuniations that the administration of Jonathan was responsible for the recent spate of bombing, the President has nothing to do with it.
He said, “I seize this opportunity to dissuade some of the insinutaions and lies that are being said that the Federal Governmet has a hand in some of these insurgent bombings. It is unheard of. It is unfair for anybody to use the blood of people to play politics. Cheap popularity that can be achieved using mischief and treachery is not good.
Certainly, we are not going to join issues.Th Federal Government is a beneficiary of the people because you have voted for us and you will continue to note for us.
As Mr President has shown synergy. it can be seen during the last Christmas which was incidence free and in sha Allah this thing will continue and be sustained.”
The minister, who made a donation of N20 million to assist traders affected by explosion that rocked Bauchi Central Market, called on Nigerians to eschew all forms of sentiment that were being expressed in order to avoid what happened in 2011, particularly in Bauchi State where so many people died, including corps members during the post election violence.
He said “It was all the working of those michevious people who are selling information which are not true. Certainly Mr President bears with you and I bear as your representative in Nigeria to make sure that we give you the kind of solace and encouragement of assistance whenever it is required,” .
The minister later visited the Emir if Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, in his palace in company with the Director General of NEMA, Dr Mohammed Sani Sidi, where he commiserated with the traditional ruler and the people of Bauchi over the sad incident.
He promised to mobilise support for the reconstruction of the damaged maket and compensate to the affected traders and victims.
Responding, the emir, expressed gratitude to the FG for identifying with the people of Bauchi during this trying period, saying that what happened was destined by God.
While praying that such should not be experienced again, the emir called on the people to be security conscious and be vigilant of their environment always.
Speaking to journalist at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, the NEMA DG said that the Federal government would donate building material for the reconstruction of the market, apart from donating drugs and consumables for the treatment of the victims of he blast who are receiving treatment in the hospital.
