President Goodluck Jonathan says the nation’s God-given resources must be utilised for the good of all Nigerians.

The president said this had become imperative for Nigeria to be a greater country in the comity of nations.

He spoke in Abuja today at the 14th National Productivity Day and Conferment of National Productivity Order of Merit Award.

Jonathan, who was represented by Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, charged Nigerians to be more productive in order to enhance the nation’s economic growth.

“The sure way to prosper in the world of today and the future is to be creative and productive.  There is no alternative to working smarter.  We must embrace and internalise the culture of productivity, in all aspects of our lives”, he said.

He asked Nigerians to keep faith with his administration’s transformation agenda, noting that the National Policy on Productivity was approved in 2012 to enhance productivity and engender equity, fairness and justice in the society.

The president also asked Nigerians to support his government’s efforts towards defeating the Boko Haram insurgency, describing his resolve to fight terrorism as firm.

Earlier, the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Paul Biya, said the award ceremony was aimed at instilling the culture of excellence in the citizenry.
