Jonathan’s 3rd year: Nigeria still on the cliff
The style of leadership of the current administration is characterized by chaos and rancour among Nigerians and our norms and values; insincerity, injustice in politics, ineptitude and insensitivity in government. The resultant effects of these are continuing insecurity, civil disturbances, rising of unemployment, increasing wake of armed robbery, explosion of bombs, violence, wanton and extrajudicial killing, cultism and other bizarre atrocities all over the country.
The administration also lacks focus demonstrated by the absence of policies in education, agriculture, housing and industrial development, and apparent failure of security in the country, abdication of duties, breaching the constitution, and feathering the nests of corrupt politicians and other public office holders. Deception has become the order of the day. Nigeria is chronically sick if not terminally, a pluralistic country with almost 250 languages and over 400 dialects. Indeed, Nigeria comprising an area of 923,768.64 square kilometres, is also the largest countries in African, and an estimated population of over 150,000,000 which makes it equally the most populous country in the African continent is now running out of times and ideas.
According to graphic presentation of Nigerian revenue from 1960 to 1999, the country earned 4.8 trillion naira. But in 14 years of PDP rule, Nigeria earned more than 50 trillion naira; still our people are living in illusion, state of despondency, despair and remained in destitute. Our leaders have simply mismanaged our economy and grossly abused our country.
A wasteful dispensation that throws up all Kind of mediocre characters that only expands corruption, stealing and killing fields.
We are dancing same old dance when the music has changed. We need important blue print to guide the process for dreaming up our socio- economic policies for the future.
We need to complement the fundamental struggle and fundamental values that would make us live in peace with one another.
We need to domesticate our values for the benefit of our country.
We need a government perceptive enough to build resilient institutions that will be the foundation of true national building. We need a proliferation of leaders that genuinely want to serve the nation, not to grab power for its sake or for bleeding our resources. we must get out of step with emerging reality.
Nigeria is too complex for an ill-prepared, ill-equipped and novices to boot to handle.
