The programme, initiated by the office of the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Schools Agriculture Programme, Hajiya Baraka Sani, is targeted at catching young Nigerians from the lower schools level as a poverty eradication strategy.
The group, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Comrade Labaran Abubakar, said it welcomed the initiative as it will equally help in the area of nutritional values.
“The National Schools Agriculture Programme (SAP) will apart from helping to eradicate poverty also help in the area of nutrition and job creation especially in the rural areas.
“As such, the Kaduna State Youth Awareness Initiative Forum wishes to commend SAP as an excellent project that is aimed at promoting entrepreneurial skills among our youth which would help alleviate the ever deepening poverty levels in our country,” said the statement.
The SAP initiative will also impart skills on small scale irrigation, fisheries and aqua-culture, poultry, nutrition, processing and packaging, honey production as well as livestock production.
