Sources in the presidency told Weekly Trust yesterday that Jonathan is also yet to receive official correspondence recognising him as the Acting President by Yar’adua.

President Yar’adua on Thursday recognized Jonathan as Acting President through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Olusegun Adeniyi.

However, the planned meeting between Jonathan and presidential aides billed to hold yesterday did not take place for reason that are not yet clear at the time of filling this report.

Adeniyi had told reporters at the Presidential Villa, Abuja Thursday that the Acting President had summoned a meeting for yesterday to brief presidential aides on  how “things will go and how he will run the Presidency and everybody is included, especially those who just returned from Saudi Arabia.”

The meeting was intended to mend fences following the altercation between Yar’dua’s loyalists and those said to be loyal to Jonathan.

Meanwhile, Adeniyi has denied informing newsmen that the Acting President has received any other medical report before or after Friday, February 19.

He said the only medical report on the President was sent once to the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan by the Chief Physician to the President, Dr Salisu Banye, through the Nigerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
