Jonathan takes Boko Haram case to UN Assembly

President Goodluck Jonathan left Abuja today en route to New York for the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, said in a statement that Jonathan would address the United Nations Security Council High-Level Session on Threats to International Peace and Security Caused by Terrorist Acts.
Abati said the president would present Nigeria’s statement to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

He said while in New York, the president would attend receptions hosted by American President Barack Obama and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki Moon.

Abati said the president Jonathan was also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Ban Ki Moon and the British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron.

He said the president would stop over in London for a brief private visit before proceeding to New York.

According to the presidential aide, Jonathan is expected back in Abuja on Thursday.
