Speaking to our reporter in Abuja,  Eta said the South-South people were disappointed in the president because of his failure in the last six years.
He said the South-South rallied round President Jonathan in 2011, hoping that he would help to address the various challenges facing the region but that the president has failed to address any of their myriad of challenges.
He said the president has instead of addressing the problems created more by favouring some people and sections of the region, pitching them against one another.
He accused the president of exploiting ethnicity and religion as trump card to gain favour instead of showcasing his performance and fulfilling the promises he made to the people in 2011.
Eta said Jonathan has also benefited from the endless struggles by the Niger Delta people for so many years, while he has never in the history of the region participated in the struggles.
“When we were struggling with our oppressors, Jonathan was unknown in anyway.  He has never lent his voice for the emancipation of the Niger Delta people. He only benefited from their misery,” he said.
He reiterated that the mind set of the people of South-South in 2015 is different from what it was in 2011, saying the issue that forced them to come together to support Jonathan has been jeopardised by the president himself.
