Filin Sukuwa Community Development Association in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State has dragged some residents to court over an alleged attempt to seize land belonging to the community meant for a hospital and school.

The community accused three persons including Musa Abubakar Pam, Yakubu Ajebu and Mr Bello of trying to claim the land situated along Bauchi-Ring Road, which is owned by the Filin Sukuwa community.

In its statement of claim, the community informed the court that the land was originally given to the community to build a hospital and school.

The land originally belonged to the state’s Ministry of Environment, which later handed it over to the community for community services.

The community is also asking the court to declare that the defendants are not the rightful owners of the land, adding that any financial transaction between the defendants and any other person in the name of selling the property is null and void.

When the case came up on Wednesday, all the defendants refused to collect the hearing notices, prompting the judge, Justice Nankwat Dawat shashe’et, to adjourn the matter until January 24.
