An employee of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) was electrocuted yesterday while carrying out repairs in the Abattoir area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

An eyewitness, who identified the victim as Friday, told our correspondent that the deceased was electrocuted while fixing a faulty transformer in the Abattoir community.

According to the eyewitness, the staff died when power was suddenly restored to the high-tension pole on which he was working, adding that Friday, prior to his demise, would often respond to calls from concerned customers whenever there was a fault in the areas he covered.

He said: “We knew him as a JED staff member all these years until the unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday.”

The spokesperson of the company, Dr Elijah Adakole, is yet to react to enquiry when contacted on the development.
