The explosion at the Gada Biyu occurred near the market. A huge fire obviously from the point where the explosion occurred burnt for over an hour as people ran helter-skelter.

 

The explosion at the Amigo Junction was said to have been preceded by the arrival of some mask-wearing gunmen who came in a vehicle and started shooting at the military men that mounted checkpoints in the area. It was not quite three minutes after they zoomed off that the explosion was said occurred at the junction.

Investigations revealed that the bombs were detonated in individuals’ living quarters Bodies of those that died at the Gada Biyu explosions were taken to the police state command office, while those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Jan Kwano and OLA hospitals.

Those who suffered casualties at the Ungwan Rukuba area were taken to the Jos University teaching Hospital JUTH permanent site.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that when the first blast occurred at Gada Biyu, it caught those around the market unawares as many of the victims were either traders or those who had gone to do some shopping at the market. Our correspondents learnt that immediately the explosion ceased in those places, youths in those areas quickly mobilised and came out to go in search of those who might be responsible, but they were met by men of the Special Task Force (STF), who tried to prevent them from taking the law into their hands, causing commotion in each of the points where the explosions occurred.

The Plateau State Police Commissioner, CP Abdulrahman Akanno, when contacted, confirmed a blast but said about six people had been injured. The phone numbers of the other security officers was not going as there was obvious congestion on the lines as people tried to get more information from one another.
