The items donated were a power generator, a television set, a mini DVD home theatre system, clippers, sterilizers and other barbing tools. Senator Pwajok had earlier renovated the salon.
Delivering the items at the beneficiary’s shop in Dilimi Street, Jos, Senator Pwajok said he was moved by the story of Ismail who, despite his physical condition, has chosen to live a fulfilled life instead of begging as many in his condition do, adding that the items were to reward Ismail’s enterprise and motivate him into greater exploits.
Explaining that his gesture towards the barber was in keeping with his principle of touching the lives of his constituents in many positive ways, Senator Pwajok pledged to continue to help in improving the livelihood of the physically challenged and other vulnerable persons in his constituency.
“If the physically challenged were encouraged, they would reach their full potentials and contribute their quota to nation building. We must, therefore, continue to motivate them to overcome their disabilities and launch themselves into greatness,” Pwajok said, disclosing that in a couple of weeks, hundreds of people, including the physically challenged, will benefit from his constituency empowerment scheme.
Responding, Rabiu, who currently has four trainee barbers in his shop, expressed gratitude to Sen. Pwajok for coming to his aid. Reflecting on his life story, he said his challenges started when he fell from a two-storey building at the age of three. “Since then, I have been fighting hard to overcome my physical condition by engaging in businesses to earn a living and train myself in school,” he recalled.
