Residents of Jos, the Plateau State capital, are complaining bitterly of scarcity of water supply in their communities.

Our correspondent reports that residents of some communities, including children, are seen on daily basis with water containers searching for water to buy, adding that the situation is making life difficult for families.

A resident of Jos, Umar Yahaya, said, “We have gone through enough. We have not seen water flowing through our pipes since we entered this New Year. In fact, the scarcity started before Christmas. We entered the New Year with no water.”

The spokesperson of the Plateau State Water Board, Mr Nangor Ndam, informed Daily Trust on phone that the board was aware of the scarcity and was working round the clock to provide a solution to it.

Ndam said water treatment plant in Dogon Karfi area of Jos developed technical problems which made supply of water impossible.

Our correspondent reports that parts of the city most affected are Rikkos, Yanshanu, Dilimi, part of Bauchi road, Nasarawa Gwom, Ahmodu Bello Way and Tafawa Balewa Street, Langtang Street, Shendam Street, Rwang Pam Street, Panyam Street, Church Street, Pankshin Street and Ndagi-Farouk.
