Permanent Voters Card

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, eligible voters in Jos, Plateau State, are expressing worry over the delay in the distribution of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The voters say they have been visiting centres designated for the collection of the PVCs but were unable to collect theirs as they were told that they were not available.

Our correspondent who visited some of the ward registration centres reported that some of them were deserted while others were filled with people waiting to collect their PVCs.

Community leaders at the ward collation centres of Gangare and Islamiyya in Jos metropolis said voters were coming to pick up their PVCs, but the numbers of those getting theirs were not very high.

Shu’aibu Hussaini, who was at the Gangare registration centre said, “I came to pick up my PVC but I wasn’t able to. They told me they haven’t seen mine.”

Abubakar Danladi, another Jos resident said, “I came to collect my PVC, but I was told mine was not available. They told me that some PVCs were yet to be received.”

The voters, however, expressed optimism that they would get their cards before the deadline for the distribution ended.
