Jos water scarcity caused by low power voltage – Board

The Plateau State Water Board yesterday said the water scarcity which has hit Jos, the state capital, is as a result of low voltage.
Spokesman of the board, Mr. Nangor Ndam, told Daily Trust that it has become difficult for the Yakubu Gowon dam treatment plant at Rah, which supplies a large section of the state capital to treat and pump water because the voltage of power supply to the plant has been low for the past two weeks.
“Right now, the Yakubu Gowon dam treatment the plant is experiencing low voltage of electricity, making it difficult for production,” he said.
He denied an earlier report that the plant was disconnected by an electricity company due to huge debt. He said he is not aware of any debt of N120 million allegedly owed the electricity company.
Ndam appealed to residents to be patient, saying the board is on top of the situation.
