Jossylad said the combination of youthfulness and experience will make it possible for the Nigerian girls to fly over their opponents in South Africa.
Speaking to Trustsports, the former 3SC coach assured Nigerian fans that with the array of stars in the team, it will be very difficult for any opponent to stop them from winning the trophy for the sixth time
“We have in the team some experienced players, who have been to the Africa Women’s Championship many times, and very young and agile players from the U-17 and U-20 World Cup. Such a very good combination is bound to give any team some difficult times.
“If we are talking of experience, I can say that some of the young players are equally experienced, because they have played at the highest level of the game (World Cup). What they need to do now it to put the experiences they have gathered in those championships into the AWC. If they can do that, they will be the team to beat in South Africa.
On why the team he took to Equatorial Guinea failed to win the trophy, Ladipo said his team had a very bad preparation towards the championship.
‘’We trained for less than three weeks for the championship and some of my key players were removed from the camp and taken to the U-20 Women World Cup. They left when it was very close to the championship in Equatorial Guinea. So, having reliable replacements for them was very difficult task,’’ he said.
He, however, praised the NFF for making adequate preparation for the current team, saying things have changed for better for the national teams in terms of preparation and motivation in recent times.
‘’I believe that the Uche Eucharia-led Super Falcons will do better than we did in the last edition. The coach has worked under many coaches, including me, and I am very sure that the experience he has garnered so far will help her to lead the team to victory.
‘’I have assisted her with the necessary tips. She is a listening coach, who has also played the game at the highest level. All these will impart on her team positively in South Africa,’’ the coach said.
