The Managing Director of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), Ahmed Maiyaki, has urged members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) to consistently adhere to the ethics of the profession.
He emphasized that the NUJ is a professional, not a religious, organization.
Maiyaki made these remarks following the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executives of the NUJ KSMC chapel in the state.
He stressed that inclusive leadership is crucial for the success of any organization.
The MD assured that the management of the radio station would provide full support to the newly elected executives to help them achieve their goals.
“It’s important for you, as the newly elected executives, to practice inclusive leadership where everyone in the chapel is considered, including those who did not vote for you. The NUJ is not a religious organization,” he said.
He also mentioned that he is open to discussing and resolving any issues related to the election of the chapel executives with the council and the national leadership of the union.
Daharatu Ahmad, representing the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), urged the new executives to implement an open-door policy in their management. She emphasized that there should be no rancor in their dealings and activities.
Farida Abubakar, a former KSMC Chairman, appealed to the leaders to adhere to the NUJ code of ethics and warned against religious and political biases, describing the NUJ as a family.
Ahmed Kidanden, Chairman of the Election Committee, announced Zakari Haruna Isah as Chairman, Bashir Haruna as Secretary, and Alhaji Maiyere as Treasurer.
