JUSUN President Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu who disclosed this in Abuja over the weekend said the union’s decision was influenced by on-going discussions by stakeholders to resolve the matter, by ensuring governors obey the court’s verdict.
Adamu also condemned the attacked on a Judge in Ekiti State, urging the authorities to investigate the matter and punish those found guilty so as to protect the sanctity of the nation’s justice system.
He also condemned statements credited to Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State that judiciary autonomy is not realistic.
According to him, “These comments are regarded as unfortunate and embarrassing, coming from a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who should be at the fore in protecting the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The Judiciary being his primary constituency as a lawyer, it is rather absurd for Chief Fashola SAN, now governor, to sit in his government house (chambers) and say that the workability of the Constitution of Nigeria which he swore to uphold, obey, comply with and implement…is not realistic and or unrealistic.”
