Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has intensified its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Rivers State, extending support to schools and students through sports sponsorships, educational visits, and community development programmes.

At Community Primary School, Ogbunabali in Port Harcourt, the construction firm sponsored the school’s annual inter-house sports competition, providing trophies for winners as well as canopies and other logistics to ensure the success of the event.

Speaking at the occasion, the company’s Community Liaison Officer, Hon. Chike, encouraged pupils to develop focus and discipline from an early age, noting that the company remains committed to supporting their academic and physical development.

In a related initiative, Julius Berger hosted Senior Secondary students from Bloombreed Schools, Port Harcourt, at its Regional Office on the Eastern Bypass as part of an educational excursion.

The visit began with a safety induction conducted by the Regional HSE/CSR Manager, Tim Oseghe, after which the students participated in technical sessions aimed at broadening their career perspectives.

The highlight of the visit was a guided tour of the company’s facilities, where experts across various departments showcased operational processes and shared insights into engineering and safety practices.

Earlier in February, the company also sponsored joint inter-house sports competitions for several schools across the state. At one of the events, the Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Gabriel Ubani, urged students to balance academic excellence with sporting activities to maximise future opportunities.

Similarly, at Model Primary School, Nkpogwu, company representatives emphasised the importance of holistic child development, urging pupils to embrace positive lifestyles.

Oseghe described the initiatives as strategic investments in the next generation, stressing that the company aims to promote the overall well-being of students.

Beyond education and sports, Julius Berger has supported orphanages with food and relief materials, provided vocational training for girls, and implemented programmes aimed at strengthening community resilience.

The company said its CSR efforts reflect a broader commitment to building lives and empowering communities beyond its core engineering operations.
