Major shake up as Kaduna, FCT, 11 other states get new police commissioners

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, on Friday, ordered the posting of new Commissioners of Police to 13 state commands including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Baba said in a statement signed by the Force spokesman, Frank Mba, that their postings became imperative in order to stabilise current internal security in the country.

The police boss called on the newly deployed police commissioners to take over the leadership of their respective command with immediate effects and scale up the fight against crimes and criminality in their domains.

The affected state commands and the commissioners include; Niger, Monday Bala Kuryas; Kwara, Emienbo Tuesday Assayamo; Nasarawa, Soyemi Musbau Adesina; Taraba, Abimbola Shokoya; Benue, Akingbola Olatunji and FCT, Babaji Sunday.
Others are: Kogi, Arungwa Nwazue Udo; Kaduna, Abdullahi Mudashiru; Jigawa, Aliyu Sale Tafida; Enugu, Abubakar Lawal; Cross River, Alhassan Aminu; Bayelsa, Echeng Eworo Echeng and Kebbi, Musa Baba.
Other Senior officers deployed are Ndatsu Aliyu Mohammed, a former Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, who is now the CP Anti-Fraud Unit FCID, Abuja; Sikiru Akande, a former CP in Cross River State who is now redeployed to the Department of ICT as the CP ICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Similarly, Bankole Lanre Sikiru is deployed as the CP INTERPOL, FCID Lagos; and CP Augustine Arop is now posted as the Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College Jos.
According to the statement, the IGP, while charging the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them, assured citizens of sustained efforts by the Force in stabilizing security in the country.
