JUST IN: NJC recommends appointment of 11 S’Court justices

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the appointment of 11 justices to the Supreme Court bench.

In a statement by the NJC Director of Information, Soji Oye on Wednesday, said the decision was arrived at the end of the 104 meeting of the council where they considered the list of justices for appointment.

The list of justices include Jummai Hannatu Sankey, Chidiebere Nwaoma Uwa, Chioma Egondu Nwosu-Iheme, Haruna Simon Tsammami, Moore Aseimo Adumein, Obande Festus Ogbuinya, Stephen Jonah Adah, Habeeb Adewale O. Abiru, Jamilu Yammama Tukur, Sadiq Umar, and Mohammed Baba Idris.

The number of the apex court justices has been depleted over time to 10 – the lowest i  history – following retirement of some justices without replacement.
