NSCDC official mobbed to death in Jigawa

A Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) official identified as Superintendent Bashir Adamu Jibril has been killed by a mob in Jigawa State.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 pm at Shuwarin Market in Kiyawa Local Government Area, where the officer was performing his lawful duty.

According to eyewitnesses, the officer was attacked after arresting a suspected criminal, which sparked agitation among a group of hoodlums who resorted to violence to prevent justice.

The mob, armed with cutlasses, sticks, and other locally fabricated dangerous weapons, descended on the officer, inflicting grievous injuries that led to his untimely death.

After the attack, he was rushed to Dutse General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The NSCDC Jigawa State Command has confirmed the incident and assured the general public and the family of the deceased that justice would be served.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, revealed that the prime suspect and mastermind of the mob attack had been apprehended, while investigations were ongoing to arrest the remaining perpetrators.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
