A House of Representatives member from Plateau State, Hon Yusuf Gagdi, has gifted his daughter, Aisha Yusuf Gagdi, a brand new Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) as a gift for her graduation from a secondary school, Lead British International School Abuja.

Aisha was said to have been excellent in her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and in celebration of the feat, her father surprised her with the luxury vehicle

The lawmaker, who shared photos from the graduation ceremony on his Instagram on Saturday, wrote, “Today, I attended my amazing daughter’s graduation ceremony. Watching you, my dear daughter, walk across that stage fills my heart with immense pride and love.

“I celebrate your achievements and the strength you’ve shown. Here’s to a future filled with endless possibilities and happiness. Congratulations, my shining star!”

The luxury gift comes at a time when the government has asked Nigerians to endure the ongoing hardship and prepare for a better future.

Daily Trust reports that the Federal Government has been unsettled by the ongoing plan for a 10-day nationwide hunger and hardship protest to draw attention to the worsening plight of the citizens.

As part of the moves to pacify Nigerians, last week, members of the House of Representatives announced that they had agreed to cut their salaries by 50 percent for six months as part of their solidarity and sacrifice to Nigerians who are enduring hardship at the moment.

This followed the adoption of an amendment to a motion’s prayer moved by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, on the need for lawmakers to sacrifice 50% of their N600,000 monthly salaries to support Nigerians in view of the hardship in the land.

Kalu’s amended prayer was to a motion by Rep Isiaka Ayokunle calling on proponents of the planned nationwide protests to jettison the idea and engage the government in dialogue.

The deputy Speaker said the salary cut is to be used to support federal government’s efforts to address rising cost of food stuffs in the country with the view to ameliorating the hardship Nigerians are going through.

Daily Trust reports that by slashing their salaries by 50%, the 360 lawmakers will be sacrificing N108 million monthly for the next six months.
