The Federal Ministry of Justice has reaffirmed its commitment to the government’s service-wide digital transformation agenda.
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), made this known during the ministry’s four-day top management retreat in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
He commended the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Beatrice Jeddy Agba, along with staff of the ministry, for embracing tools such as the Performance Management System (PMS) and the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system, which are replacing manual processes.
Fagbemi noted that the justice sector plays a critical role in national development through access to justice, respect for the rule of law, and a strengthened judicial system. He emphasized that challenges in the criminal justice sector-including limited access to justice, overcrowded correctional facilities, delays in trials, and systemic inefficiencies-require urgent technology-driven solutions.
“With citizens increasingly relying on technology to access services, the ministry can no longer depend solely on traditional modes of communication or manual processes.
“If we are to meet the expectations of Nigerians and support the President’s vision for justice sector reforms, we must embrace digital tools that guarantee timely and efficient service delivery,” he said.
In her remarks, Jeddy Agba said the retreat was designed to deepen institutional capacity in areas such as ECM, digital case management, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence into legal workflows.
