The book, ‘Dream for My Fatherland: Towards a Violence Free Election in Nigeria,’ which was written by an Abuja-based lawyer Haroun Eze, will be presented on January 30 in Abuja.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include businessmen Arthur Eze and Abdulsamad Rabiu. Others are the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Sir Mike Omeri, state governors and ministers.
A statement by Eze, who is the coordinator of Human Rights and Patriotic Action Initiative, gives highlights of the launch to include a symposium on imperatives of successful general elections in the country.
He explained that the book will serve as a tool for civic education on the purpose of election, the need to elect the best candidate and to avoid electoral violence by drawing from lessons of Nigeria’s history.
“The book is to remind Nigerians of our history, our purpose and ideals of those we cherish among the older generation,” he said.
