The President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Kashim Ali, has enjoined indigenous engineers to prove their competency in project execution.

Ali made this call at the 27th COREN Assembly held in Abuja.

Ali said engineers needed to justify their competence in view of the recent Executive Order No.5 by President Muhammadu Buhari which states that, “Procuring entities shall give preference to Nigerian companies and firms in the award of contracts, in line with the Procurement Act 2007.”

He said, “With this executive order, the ball is now in the court of the Nigerian Engineering Practitioners to prove that they are competent and able to execute projects that meet international standards.”
