The Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Nasarawa State chapter, shutdown and chased away lawyers and litigants who were in various courts in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Nasarawa State JUSUN’s PRO, Solomon Iyigulu, told journalists that the union was dissatisfied with the state government’s inability to meet its demands.

Mr. Iyigulu said they were in Akwanga to ensure total compliance with the strike which commenced on November 13, 2018, as well as to ensure that no activity took place in courts; not only in Akwanga, but in the entire state.

“We are here to ensure that the strike which has been embarked upon by the state chapter of JUSUN is fully complied with.

“We are here to ensure total compliance as the state government failed to meet up with our demands after several correspondences. I call on our members to remain resolute, remain at home and be law abiding until they hear further directives from us,” he added.

When contacted, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Abdulkareem Kana, told Daily Trust that, “The law is that any staff who works will receive his pay, and anyone who does not work would not be paid. The no work, no pay action has come to stay.”
