The late former commissioner for finance in Kano State, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, has been described as one who contributed significantly to academic and policy discussions in Kano State.

Mourners noted that the scholar authored and edited several books on accounting, taxation, finance and economics, contributing significantly to academic and policy discussions in Nigeria; thus his death is a great loss to the academic community and Kano State.

The director of information at the Bayero University, Kano, Lamara Garba, while announcing the death at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Wednesday evening, paid a glowing tribute to the late professor of accounting and taxation at the university’s Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.

He noted that Dandago was recently invited by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) to be among the panel of discussants in a lecture, besides his efforts in raising appeal fund to support the families of deceased colleagues.

In their tributes, many of his students recalled his impact on their academic lives in his teaching of taxation, auditing and investigation

Dandago, a chartered accountant, served as finance commissioner between June 2015 and October 2018 under Governor Ganduje.

He was at one time the dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Bayero University, Kano (BUK), which he joined in September 1990.
