The new rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Professor Idris M. Bugaje has described the condition of the polytechnic hostels as worse than a war zone; saying they are not conducive for learning.

Bugaje took over in September, 2017 from Dr. Catherine Eveh Uloko who has been in acting capacity since August 27, 2016. 

The rector in an interview with Daily Trust lamented that Kaduna polytechnic is in a very sorry state both in terms of its financial records and infrastructure.

“The infrastructures are not only dilapidated but completely decayed. When I visited the hostels some days ago, I couldn’t believe what I saw, it was worse than a war zone. I couldn’t understand how that kind of place can be conducive for learning.

“So, we are trying our best to involve government. We are also involving other state stakeholders in order to revive the institution and also see how to move the academic forward because 80 percent of our courses must be accredited but as it is now, only 20 percent are fully accredited."

He assured that apart from infrastructural development, his administration would bring about academic excellence.
