Kaduna Polytechnic has invented an electric scooter which was designed and produced by the Centre for Technology Development (CTD) of the institution.
The acting Rector, Dr Suleiman Umar, at the presentation and opening of the CTD Automobile Training and Repairs Workshop Friday said the e-scooter was aimed at solving the much sort alternative to conventional vehicles that uses petrol.

“This electric scooter was designed and fabricated by the Engineering Service Unit of CTD with mostly reusable materials from old and scrap motorcycle parts,” he said.
He explained that the long term economic benefits of the e-scooter over conventional vehicles include eliminating fuel costs and other routine maintenance.
In his remarks, CTD Director Auwal S Anwar said when the product is mass produced and made available to the public it would become a source of income to the school.
He also said the centre intended to upgrade to electric tricycles and later four wheel automobiles having mastered the technology and financial benefits to the Polytechnic.
