Kadpoly lecturers end 7-week-old strike

Lecturers at Kaduna Polytechnic have suspended a strike they began seven weeks ago to protest poor working conditions, irregular academic calendar, and routine lack of consumables for laboratory practicals among others.

It came after the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics at the school met in congress on Tuesday.

The strike crippled academic activities in the, stopping students from writing their first-semester examinations.

A circular issued on Tuesday called on members to immediately resume their normal academic activities.

The circular signed by the publicity secretary of the union, Abbas Muhammad stated that the suspension is for a period of six months after which a congress would be reconvened on April 17, 2018 to reassess the memorandum of understanding between the management and the union.
