Kaduna Polytechnic is calling on its alumni to play a pivotal role in addressing Nigeria’s pressing technological and developmental challenges. 

Speaking at the inauguration of the institution’s Board of Trustees in Kaduna, the Rector Dr. Suleiman Umar urged them to collaborate with the Polytechnic in research initiatives, with a special focus on renewable energy, agricultural innovation, and digital transformation.

“This inauguration is not just about celebrating our alumni; it is about transforming them into a dynamic force for collaboration, mentorship, and sustainable development,” the Rector said.

Highlighting the potential of alumni contributions, Dr. Umar encouraged partnerships that link experienced graduates with current students:

“Foster stronger ties through scholarships, internships, and career guidance programs. Collaborate on research initiatives in areas like renewable energy, agricultural innovation, and digital transformation fields where Kaduna Polytechnic continues to lead.”

The Rector framed this initiative as part of a broader strategy to revitalize the Polytechnic’s alumni network, previously dormant, into a hub for innovation and national progress.

“Return often, contribute generously, and inspire boldly. Be not just custodians of our history, but architects of our tomorrow,” he implored.

In his remarks newly appointed Board of Trustees Chairman, Engr. Prof. Mohammad Sani Haruna, emphasized the responsibility of alumni to give back to the institution and support ongoing initiatives.

“It is indeed disheartening for people not to appreciate and reciprocate the good gesture by giving back to the institution…Even with all the challenges, it is an opportunity for us to reflect on what other alumni of other institutions are doing that attracts motivation and enthusiasm,” he said.

Prof. Haruna highlighted the importance of teamwork and adherence to governance: “By the grace of God, we will do our best to be guided by the constitution, and we will work as a team…Some national members reminded us of the need to equally help them do a manhunt to search for committed alumni members. This will be part of the executives’ subsequent activities.”
