The Kaduna Polytechnic Entrepreneurship in Action and Us (ENACTUS) team has said it will donate over one million copies of textbooks to internally displaced students in the North-eastern part of the country which is being ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency.
The team is also providing classroom tents for the children as well as tables and chairs.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of new members, the team leader, Emmanuel Odey Adikpe, said the books will be provided through the group’s ‘Donate a book, educate an IDP child’ project launched in Maiduguri, Yobe and Adamawa.
"We are imploring two concepts including building classroom tents for the children as well as providing tables and chairs for them. The idea behind the concept is to involve all Nigerians to donate at least a book for the education of displaced children,
"The second concept is about training adults in the IDP camps on skills acquisition including shoe making, paint production, popcorn production and making of Hausa caps. We will also provide the materials and capital for them to start up their businesses,” he said.
