The crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State has deepened following disagreement within the party’s Appeal Committee over the outcome of its governorship primaries, with parallel interpretations reportedly favouring both Shu’aibu Idris Miqati and rival aspirant Ashiru.

The division has triggered fresh political tension within the party, even as the Miqati Support Group (MSG) has intensified calls for all stakeholders to close ranks and rally behind Miqati ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Kawo, Kaduna, the State Coordinator of the group, Imrana Mansur,

 maintained that the group would continue to recognise Miqati as the party’s legitimate flagbearer, insisting that the decision aligning with his candidacy remains the most credible path toward strengthening unity in the ADC.

He appealed to other aspirants who participated in the primaries, including their supporters, to accept the outcome of the appeal process in good faith and work collectively for the success of the party, warning that prolonged internal division could weaken the ADC’s chances at the polls.

“The interest of the party must override individual ambition. What we need now is unity, not further fragmentation,” he said.

The camp reiterated its commitment to peace building and reconciliation, urging party members to remain calm, law-abiding and focused on the broader objective of electoral success.
