In a major stride towards improving public health and rural development, the Kaduna State Government has commissioned 48 water points and 98 sanitation facilities across six Local Government Areas (LGAs), targeting over 180,000 residents.
The Director General of the Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), Engineer Mubarak Shehu Ladan, disclosed this during the official handover of the facilities in Soba, Sabon Gari, Chikun, Igabi, Jaba, and Jama’a LGAs.
According to Engr. Ladan, the facilities were constructed under the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SUWASH) programme aimed at ensuring equitable access to clean water and sanitation in rural and semi-urban communities.
According to him, Water is essential to life, hence the need for communities to have access to affordable water for their livelihood.

“Our joy is to see people benefiting from projects that the government brings to them. As our governor Senator Uba Sani emphasized even during his campaign, rural transformation and the provision of water will remain a top priority,” he said.
Ladan noted that the newly commissioned solar-powered boreholes and sanitation units would significantly benefit schoolchildren and healthcare centers in the selected LGAs.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work after personally inspecting the sites.
“I’m very happy today, and I will go back home a fulfilled man, seeing the facilities not just completed, but already impacting lives,” he added. “We all know that water is life, and without it, practically there will be no life.”
While inspecting projects in Jama’a, Igabi, and Chikun LGAs, the RUWASA DG urged the benefiting communities to safeguard the infrastructure against vandalism and to appreciate the state government’s efforts.
“Communities must thank Governor Uba Sani for selecting them among the first beneficiaries. For those yet to benefit, I urge patience it’s a continuous process,” he stated.
Some residents of the benefiting communities praised the state government for its commitment to improving lives, particularly in rural areas, highlighting the project’s potential to curb waterborne diseases and boost hygiene.
