The Kaduna State Government has commissioned a series of water and sanitation facilities in Jaba Local Government Area for the benefit of over 30,000 residents across primary healthcare centres and schools.
Governor Uba Sani, represented at the event by the Director General of the Kaduna State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Engr. Mubarak Shehu Ladan, said the intervention marks a key step in the state’s commitment to equitable rural development under the ‘Sustain Agenda.’
The facilities were delivered as part of the first phase of the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) programme, which targets six pilot local government areas. The next phase will extend to more communities and institutions across the state.
Speaking during the commissioning, Engr. Ladan emphasized the administration’s focus on basic infrastructure as a pathway to inclusive development.
“Access to clean water and sanitation is not a privilege—it’s a right. By providing these facilities, we are investing in the health, dignity, and future of our rural communities,” he said.
Community leaders, school authorities, and healthcare workers commended the state government for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. They lauded Governor Uba Sani for ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in the state’s development drive.
The beneficiaries pledged to maintain the facilities and continue supporting the government’s rural infrastructure programmes.
